Just thought I'd pop in to say hi. Not been around much, but also haven't really had much to say either.

While I'm here I'll talk a little bit about TV. :)

I watched and loved Game of Thrones. I can't believe we have to wait until next year for S2 to air! I'm going to read the first book to help make the wait more bearable, but won't be reading any more until after S2 airs. This show is just too good to watch spoiled!

I've watched and enjoyed the first two eps of True Blood S4. I've seen mixed reviews of the show here on LJ, but I'm still loving it so far. I tend to go into TB without any expectations at all and just enjoy the show for what it is - rollicking good fun! It definitely isn't a show to be taken seriously, but that's the kind of TV I need to see from time to time - and I make no apologies for that. It's cracktastically delicious and I love it! It also has an extremely pretty cast which doesn't hurt. *g*

I've also been enjoying the second season of the BBC drama Luther. I still have last night's final ep to watch, but I think this season has been even better than the first. It's violent and disturbing on so many levels (my mum refused to watch any more after last week's ep), but also highly compelling TV. Love it!

I also loved another BBC drama series Case Histories, which starred the wonderful (and sexy) Jason Isaacs as private detective Jackson Brodie. I've read and enjoyed the books (by Kate Atkinson) that the show is based on, and I think JI played Jackson to perfection. He was exactly as I imagined him...and yes, okay, I admit to having a huge crush on Jackson Brodie - which has now increased ten-fold after seeing him being played by Jason Isaacs. *melts at the thought*

I've also been rewatching ER and Six Feet Under from the very beginning on Sky Atlantic, and enjoying them both immensely. I'd forgotten just how much I loved these shows when they first aired - especially the earlier seasons of ER. They're so good!

And last but not least I've been watching Big Love and Battlestar Galactica (also on Sky Atlantic), which I've never seen before. To be honest, I didn't think I was going to like a show about polygamy, so I've been pleasantly surprised by just how much I'm enjoying Big Love.I'm about midway through S2 at the moment and am loving it!

As for BSG, I'd seen the mini-series and the first few eps of S1 when they first aired, but had given up on it after that. I know a lot of people on LJ who loved the show, so when it started airing from the beginning on Sky Atlantic (are you sensing a pattern here? *g*) I decided to give it another go - and I'm so glad I did! I'm up to ep5 of S3 and can't wait to see what happens next. Excellent stuff!

Honorary mention must go to Fringe which I finished watching last week. Roll on S4!

And that's just about it. :)

*looks up* I know it must seem like all I do is watch TV, but I only watch these shows on a weekly basis (other than ER which airs every day), so it's mostly just an hour or two every evening while my husband's at work (a bit more at weekends when I catch up on the shows I watch with him). Honestly. ;)

My thoughts on various TV shows...

True Blood S3 )

But at least I'll have The Vampire Diaries to help ease my pain!

The Vampire Diaries 2x01-2x03 )

Supernatural 6x01 )

Being Erica 3x01 )

The Young Ones (BBC1) )

Mad Men Eps 1-3 (latest season) )

71 Degrees North (ITV) )

Words of the Blitz (ITV) )

Still to watch: Fringe, House, Dexter, Grey's Anatomy and several UK shows (Downton Abbey and DCI Banks to name but two).

I obviously watch way too much TV, but that's what can happen when your other half works nights! ;)

ETA: Sorry about the coding screw-up! It should be fixed now...

What a wonderful episode! There were so many things I loved about it that I couldn't possibly write them all down - but I'll try to write down as many as I can.

That was one excellent episode. I love this show far more than is good for me! :)

Had a lovely week away in Skegness with family, but it's so nice to be back home. :)

Finally got to see the latest episode of True Blood. My reactions under the cut.

That was such a fun episode! I loved it to pieces. :)

Yet another good episode. This season is moving along nicely! So much better than the Maryann storyline that dragged on for so long last season.

Things I Liked:

* There's an awful lot of blood in this show, isn't there?!

As usual, the good points far outweigh the bad for me.

So glad they didn't go there (book spoilers for 3x07 only - no future plot points mentioned)... )

Looking forward to seeing where the show decides to take us from here! :)

ETA: Sorry about the coding screw up - it should be fixed now. Hope I didn't spoil anyone!

Wow, that was one blood thirsty episode, wasn't it?

Things I Liked:

* Loved the action packed beginning.

But other than that, I loved the rest of the episode. Can't wait for next week!

I haven't been feeling very well today, so I'm later posting this than I intended to be. Finally saw the episode late last night.

Things I liked:

* How about everything? Because that's pretty much how I feel about this episode.

As usual, the things I didn't like are few and far between, and are just little quibbles more than anything. I can't help but love this show to pieces, and I gleefully look forward to every episode. :)

I've seen a few less than positive reviews of this episode around LJ, but I have to say I enjoyed it immensely. There were some things I didn't like, but those moments were few and far between. For me S3 is shaping up to be the best season of the show so far.

And to be honest, I'm enjoying this show to pieces, so I don't really care if other people can't understand why I like it as much as I do. After all, we're in the third season now, so I think we should all know pretty much what to expect by now. :)

As always, this is just my opinion. YMMV.

I haven't had a chance to watch the latest episode yet, so I'd really appreciate it if all spoilers/reactions could be kept under a cut. Thank you so much! :)

I'll post my reactions to the episode later.

I watched episode 3 of True Blood S3 a couple of days ago.

This episode wasn't as strong as the first two, but still had plenty to enjoy.

There's probably more I've forgotten, but those are the main things I can think of right now.

I really do love this show. :)

First reactions as I watch...

Don't expect anything deep and meaningful. Pure reaction... )

That was one action packed episode.

I love this show!

The first 24 days )

Day 25 - A show you plan on watching (old or new)

I'll probably rewatch Lost at some point, and I still rewatch old BtVS episodes from time to time. But the show I'm most looking forward to at the moment is S3 of True Blood. The trailers and minisodes have been wonderful so far, and I'm excited to see what the new season will bring. June 13th can't get here fast enough!

Rest of the days under the cut )

Has everyone seen the latest extended trailer for S3 of True Blood?

Extended S3 Trailer on YouTube

And the latest minisode:

Also on YouTube - this one featuring Jason

It looks so good!

*is excited*

Less than two weeks to go! :D

The first 9 days )

Day 10 - A show you thought you wouldn't like but ended up loving:

I think I've already covered this in previous days, but the two shows I thought I wouldn't like but ended up loving are The Vampire Diaries and True Blood.

I expected them to be nothing more than cheesy and campy, which they are to a certain extent. But there is really so much more to them than that, and I'm not ashamed to say that I now love them both.

I don't care if other people hate them. They're my two favourite shows of the moment. :P

Up

I've just finished watching Up for the umpteenth time.

This movie just about kills me every. single. time.

I love it. The whole movie is wonderful, but it's worth watching for the first fifteen minutes alone.

And watching it on blu-ray is pure perfection.

And that's coming from someone who usually finds blu-ray completely over-rated.

Movies like this are what blu-ray was made for. :)

On a completely different note...

I have to accept the fact that I'm starting to become fannish about True Blood. I'm ridiculously excited about the first previews/promos of season 3, and I haven't felt like that about a show for a long time. I mean, I love Supernatural, Being Human, Caprica (and not just for JM) and Lost, etc...but I don't pay much attention to them until just before thay start to air. But with True Blood, I'm squeeing at the slightest sign of Eric bit of news, and I can't wait until June 13th when S3 starts to air. And I know for a fact that I'll be waiting up half the night just so I can see the episodes as soon as possible - just like I did when S2 aired.

And you know what? It's a good feeling! It's so nice to have something to look forward to again. :)

But don't worry, I still love BtVS, Spike and Spuffy. Like that's ever going to change! :D
caliente_uk: (eric promo)
S2 of True Blood will be airing in the UK on FX and FXHD.

No set air date yet, but...

Coming in February! (S2 trailer available via link)

Yay! :D

Yes, I know I've already seen it by other means, but I can't wait to see it again. \o/

*bounces*

And that means S2 will be out on DVD in a few months, too. Yay!

*pets S1 DVDs*

:D
caliente_uk: (Jason)
It wasn't the strongest season finale in the world, but it was still enjoyable and set up some new storylines to take us into Season 3.

True Blood S2 Ep12 - Spoilers )

And now we have the long, long wait until S3 starts next summer. *sigh*

Oh well, at least I still have Supernatural. :)
caliente_uk: (Jason)
Dead to the World (book4) and the beginning of Dead as a Doornail (book 5) spoilers )

True Blood talk (may include spoilers up to book 5) )

So I think it's safe to say that I'm enjoying the heck out of True Blood and the Sookie Stackhouse books so far - and I don't care who knows it! They're not masterpieces by any stretch of the imagination...but they're a lot of fun. And that's what I need right now. :)

No episode this week, so I have to wait until the 13th (probably 14th for me) to see it. I can't wait!

But until then, back to reading Dead as a Doornail...

Another good episode that was slow in parts and creepy in others. It had fun moments, eek! moments, eew moments, and was lol funny in places. A decent episode that set things up nicely for the season finale.

True Blood S2 Ep11 - Spoilers )

Now we have to wait two weeks for the season finale. Two weeks!

Probably the weakest episode of the season so far for me, but still enjoyable.

True Blood - S2 Ep10 (spoilers) )

Roll on next week! :D
