True Blood
Jun. 30th, 2010 04:06 pmI watched episode 3 of True Blood S3 a couple of days ago.
This episode wasn't as strong as the first two, but still had plenty to enjoy.
Things I liked:
* Almost every scene with Bill. Is it my imagination, or is Bill looking more attractive this season?
* Eric and Sookie. Loved everything about their interaction in this episode.
* Franklin Mott. He's turning out to be a very intriguing character.
* I already love Alcide, and he's only been in one episode so far. He's also very large! He's the one character from the books that I've been looking forward to seeing the most, and I think the actor they've chosen is the perfect casting choice.
* Sookie and Alcide at the werewolf bar. I can't make my mind up whether Sookie is very brave, very stupid, or a bit of both. But either way I'm liking her more and more with every episode. I think Bill and Sookie have both been more interesting away from each other so far this season.
* Still loving Lafayette, Jason and Andy. They didn't have as much to do in this episode, but I enjoyed what we did get. Especially Lafayette's scene with Eric. *g*
* Jessica and Franklin. Loved the scene with the head!
* Any scene with Pam in it is always fun! :D
* The King of Mississipi and Talbot. They're both shaping up to be good characters.
* Lorena is one of those characters we all love to hate. More about her in the things I didn't like.
* I found the flashback scenes of Bill and his family incredibly moving. Stephen Moyer is doing a brilliant job as Bill this season.
* There are things I like about Sam's storyline, but more that I don't.
* Terry and Arlene. I can't help but feel for both of them.
* Eggs funeral scene was very well done, and I was glad to see Sookie and Tara make up.
Things I didn't like:
* The Bill/Lorena angry sex. I could have done without the head twisting scene.
* Not enough Hoyt.
* I don't want to see Tara as a victim any more. I had enough of that last season. The sex scene between Franklin and Tara seemed consensual, but I don't want to keep seeing her have her free will taken away from her.
* Sam's family. To be fair, I don't think they're meant to be likeable (and I think the brother could have potential), but I hope there's going to be more to Sam's story than what we've seen so far.
There's probably more I've forgotten, but those are the main things I can think of right now.
I really do love this show. :)

Date: 2010-06-30 03:31 pm (UTC)Judging by the second promo I saw for the July 11 episode (the next one because of the July 4th holiday), there is a lot more going on. Which is good because I was beginning to wonder why we were being subjected to the cast from Tobacco Road.
Jessica and Franklin. Loved the scene with the head!
It was both eww! and hee!
I also loved the Jessica/Pam phone conversation.

Date: 2010-06-30 11:44 pm (UTC)IMO, Darla could wipe the floor with Lorena. She's boring and one-note, whereas Darla was much, much, more interesting.
Of course, YMMV. :-)

Date: 2010-07-01 09:37 am (UTC)I'm less worried about Tara after watching an interview with Rutina Wesley and the bloke who plays Franklin on YouTube. Petzi has the link.
I agree it doesn't look great so far, though.
