Had a lovely week away in Skegness with family, but it's so nice to be back home. :)
Finally got to see the latest episode of True Blood. My reactions under the cut.
I'm not going to do my normal likes/dislikes review, as I pretty much adored every minute of this episode. I have one or two niggles, but nothing big enough to warrant their own section. :)
My thoughts on the episode in no particular order:
* Was glad to see Sookie tell Bill exactly how she felt at the start of the episode, but was disappointed that she seemed to forgive him so easily by the end. I'm hoping it doesn't mean they're back together again just yet, as I want to see how their characters develop when they're apart from one another.
* Bill wanting to give Sookie the 'life she deserves'. Echoes of Buffy/Angel?
* Still don't like the blood tears. I sometimes find them too distracting.
* I loved Talbot, and had a feeling what was going to happen as soon as Eric saw the tender moment between him and Russell. :(
* Queen Sophie-Ann complaining about her living quarters was funny, even though we didn't actually see her.
* 'A century old child'. I'm going to miss Talbot. :(
* I enjoy every scene with Eric - and particularly enjoyed the scenes between him and Russell in this episode.
* Aww, Terry/Arlene are so cute together! But it's all going to end in tears, isn't it?
* Rene is still as creepy as hell.
* Bill and Jessica. At last Bill is facing up to his responsibilities! He's a broken man, but as her maker Jessica needs him. Wonderful touching scene between them when Bill tried to explain why he and Sookie were no longer together. Jessica: 'No way!' Bill: 'Way'. This show is so flamboyantly over the top, yet still manages to do these little character moments so very well.
* I know there are some of you who haven't warmed to him, but I can't help but like Alcide. And I finally saw a little bit of chemistry between Alcide/Sookie. Not a lot, but it was definitely there.
* I love everything about Jason this season. He's just so adorably dim, isn't he? And so passionate when it comes to protecting his sister! Whatever else he is, he is fiercely loyal when it comes to those he loves.
* Can't say too much about the Jason/Crystal storyline without giving away possible spoilers, but I'm loving it so far.
* Holly - again, I can't say too much, but I have a feeling she's going to be important later on.
* I love the relationship between Tara and Lafayette. And I'm so glad they're showing how traumatised Tara still is after what happened with Franklin.
* Was hoping we'd seen the back of Sam's mom. But maybe that's the last we'll see of her for a while? *fingers crossed*
* Poor Tommy hasn't had much of a life, so I can see why he behaves in the way that he does. I like how his relationship with Sam is developing, but Sam's going to find it hard to keep him under control!
* So Tara is having erotic dreams about Franklin because she drank his blood. Poor Tara!
* I don't know who the actress is who plays Lafayette's mother (although I do recognise her), but she's very good.
* I was glad to see Tara and Sookie's friendship back on track (for all of five minutes *g*), and loved Tara telling Sookie what an idiot she's being. It's so good to (sort of) have the feisty Tara back!
* And Tara's right, Sookie is a dumb bitch - and yet I can't help but still like her.
* Loved the scene between Sam and Tara. It's good to see Sam interacting with the regular cast again.
* Jason is adorable - but so stupid at the same time. And now he's really gone and done it after confronting Crystal's family. Oh, Jason.
* Tommy trying to get in between Hoyt and Jessica. Don't believe him, Hoyt! I've missed the Jessica/Hoyt interaction this season.
* Hadley giving Sookie Eric's message: 'Russell is coming. Don't trust Bill.'
* I loved every scene with Russell, Talbot and Eric. Eric has such a creepy fake smile. He really can be quite chilling when he wants to be!
* Jesus/Lafayette still have good chemistry. I like how hesitant Lafayette is around him. It shows a completely different side to him - and I like it.
* Loved Talbot behaving like a petulant child. The Eric/Talbot scene was very convincing, but I find Alexander Skarsgard convincing in every scene he's in, so...
* I had a feeling it was coming, but I'm still disappointed to see Talbot go. I understand why Eric did it, but Talbot was such a great character and I'm going to miss him.
* Now Russell knows what it feels like to lose someone he loves - and judging by his heartrending scream, he's not going to take it lying down. Eric had better get out of there - fast!
* I don't mind the werewolves, but Debbie Pelt is so annoying. I wish Sookie would just shoot her already! Alcide would be better off without her anyway.
* It's good to see Bill and Jessica working together. And I liked how undecided Bill was when both Sookie and Jessica were in trouble - and he decided to help Jessica first. It would have made it even better if he'd gone after Jessica at the end of the episode once he knew Sookie was safe - but it was a start.
* Eric inadvertently saved Bill when he killed Talbot. There was no way Bill was going to get away from Russell otherwise!
* Sookie can be quite the fighter when she wants to be - especially when she has all that vampire blood inside her!
* There's a surprise - Sookie's forgiven Bill already. I hope this doesn't mean they'll be back together again now, as I think it's much too soon after everything that's happened.
* Aww, poor Hoyt driving by in tears - just as Jessica kills Don Swayze.
* Love them or loathe them (and I'm closer to loving them than loathing them), Bill and Sookie are definitely hot together. But is it just me, or does it somehow seem slightly voyeuristic to watch a RL couple engage in such graphic sex scenes? It makes me feel a little uncomfortable if I'm honest.
That was such a fun episode! I loved it to pieces. :)

Date: 2010-08-15 04:22 pm (UTC)Sookie/Alcide are my new OTP. I was so annoyed with Sookie for NOT kissing that hunk of hot man. I have to agree with Tara that Sook is a fucking idiot.
Eric...(I miss the Sookie/Eric interaction a LOT).
I really wish Bill would meet the sun or the pointy end of a stake NOW. He is so annoying with his self-loathing and guilt (Angel, anyone?) I can't believe that Sookie is back with him again (she really is a fucking idiot).
I can't wait for Franklin to come back! James Frain is so much fun to watch!

I would be nice to have at least one couple be happy, wouldn't it?
Now Russell knows what it feels like to lose someone he loves - and judging by his heartrending scream, he's not going to take it lying down. Eric had better get out of there - fast!
Nods. The Big Bad is really, really mad.
