I've just finished watching Up for the umpteenth time.

This movie just about kills me every. single. time.

I love it. The whole movie is wonderful, but it's worth watching for the first fifteen minutes alone.

And watching it on blu-ray is pure perfection.

And that's coming from someone who usually finds blu-ray completely over-rated.

Movies like this are what blu-ray was made for. :)

On a completely different note...

I have to accept the fact that I'm starting to become fannish about True Blood. I'm ridiculously excited about the first previews/promos of season 3, and I haven't felt like that about a show for a long time. I mean, I love Supernatural, Being Human, Caprica (and not just for JM) and Lost, etc...but I don't pay much attention to them until just before thay start to air. But with True Blood, I'm squeeing at the slightest sign of Eric bit of news, and I can't wait until June 13th when S3 starts to air. And I know for a fact that I'll be waiting up half the night just so I can see the episodes as soon as possible - just like I did when S2 aired.

And you know what? It's a good feeling! It's so nice to have something to look forward to again. :)

But don't worry, I still love BtVS, Spike and Spuffy. Like that's ever going to change! :D

I loved 'Up' especially those first minutes. I've mentioned it before; I watch it in a theater filled with families and young children. The quiet was eerie. Even 2 and 3 year olds sat mesmerized with the honest emotions portrayed by cartoons!

I have to wait for Tru Blood DVDs. I don't get HBO at home. Darn!

It's such a wonderful movie! It captures human emotion perfectly. :)

Aww, that's a shame.

Nice icon! :D

The first five minutes of Up - the flashback with very little dialogue - is the greatest short film of 2009. You can watch just the Ellie part, and see brilliant filmmaking. The whole movie in its entirety is brilliant, but those first five minutes never fail to break my heart.

As for True Blood? Eric Northman is the answer to Spike withdrawl. Buffy and Angel have been off the air for years, the comics are on the whole terrible, but we have Eric to feed our need for hot blonde vampires (and Bill's there to serve as yet another example of how dark and broody = boring as hell). The world needs more BtVS-True Blood crossovers (in my mind, Spike and Dru spent some time in Shreveport hanging with Pam and Eric. Dru's few saner moments were spent in the presence of Godric, so she and Spike followed him around like Greatful Dead fans for a while. Awesomeness is exponential, y'know.)

That's exactly what I think of it, as well... it's essentially it's own separate movie.

I had a really hard time with it though, mostly because my grandma had passed away just a week or so earlier and I'd just barely gotten back from visiting my grandpa then going up and visiting my other grandma (who was feeling very lonely and missing my grandpa, who died quite awhile ago). It was really hard to watch and left me crying more than it probably should have... Even though it's so beautifully done, I'm not sure I'll be watching the first part of that movie again anytime soon.

Yes, it really is incredible.

I can understand how it had such a huge impact on you, especially at such a difficult and emotional time in your life. It definitely touches me on a very personal level, which is what makes it so incredibly powerful to watch. *hugs*

How right you are! :)

Definitely! I've seen a couple, but nowhere near as many as I'd like.

I like your fic ideas! :D

It's wonderful!

I love Vampire Diaries, but I don't feel fannish about it at all. True Blood is just so deliciously naughty! :D

*shares Up love*

Up is such a delightful and, well, uplifting movie. Mr Fredricksen is hands down the most lovable grumpy old man there is! :) And yeah, you can't not cry during those first fifteen minutes...
