50 Book Challenge 2010

50 / 50 books. 100% done!

Finished my 50th book of the year this afternoon, so I just scraped through at the last minute. :)

Books Read in 2010 )

A mixed bag this year. Some great, some not so great, some fluffy and light and some dark and angsty. But all were good in their own way, and suited my mood at the time. I wouldn't recommend them all, and even those I would recommend wouldn't be to everyone's taste.

My favourite books of the year have been: Blackout and All Clear by Connie Willis, The Passage by Justin Cronin, Changes by Jim Butcher, The Snowman by Jo Nesbo and The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins.

Upcoming reads for 2011:

Books two and three of The Hunger Games series by Suzanne Collins
The Leopard by Jo Nesbo
Ghost Story by Jim Butcher

Well, I've read 42/50 books so far this year. A few of them were 800 plus pages, so it feels as though I've read more books than I actually have. *g*

Do you think I'll make it to my 50 book goal? Or have I left it too late? 8 books in a month. Hmm, I'll give it a go, but it's going to be close! :)

So today is comicwank day. Oh dear. And that's all I have to say about that. Thank goodness S8 is almost over!

It's still freezing cold outside, but the snow seems to have stopped (thank goodness). K's college (which is based at her old school) was open, but she decided not to go in anyway, as the roads were treacherous this morning and it takes her a good hour on the school bus to get there. She's also got a severe muscle strain in her shoulder that she should be resting, which is easier said than done when you're a wheelchair user and rely on your arms to get around! And in this weather getting around is a nightmare. *sigh*

Hope it's not too cold where you are! :)

I haven't managed to get through many books over the last couple of months. Hopefully I'll make up for it in July. :)

Books read in April:

19. Blackout by Connie Willis

This is book one of a two part story. The second book (All Clear) is out in October. I loved it, but won't be able to review it properly until after I've read the second half of the story.

It's set in the UK, has time travel, World War 2 history, interesting characters and gripping, interwoven storylines. I have to admit it was a bit slow to begin with, but soon picked up speed. A highly recommended read, but beware: book one does end on a cliffhanger.

Up next: The Fiery Cross by Diana Gabaldon, book 5 of the Outlander series.

Books read in March

13. The Open Door by Beryl Matthews
Not what I'd usually read (it's my mum's), but enjoyable. Not very well-written, though.

14. The Way Home by George Pelecanos
Written by one of the writers of The Wire and it shows. Loved it!

15. Wings of the Morning by Beryl Matthews
Sequel to The Open Door. Also my mum's. :)

16. All Together Dead by Charlaine Harris
Book 7 of the Sookie Stackhouse series. Probably my second favourite so far, with Dead to the World being number one. Yes, I really am that predictable. *g*

17. Silver Borne by Patricia Briggs
Book 5 in the Mercy Thompson series, and another great read. I love these books!

18. The Silver Linings Play Book by Matthew Quick
Interesting and thought-provoking read.
