I had dinner with James Marsters!
May. 5th, 2007 03:25 pmGot back from London in the early hours of this morning. Had a fantastic time at all the Spring Fever events, and a wonderful time at the dinner with James. I'm still processing everything that happened, and am still stunned and a little overwhelmed by the fact that my ticket was drawn for the dinner...and that K was able to come with me. I still can't quite believe that I was there! I met some wonderful people, including the brilliant
sueworld2003, who I'm sure can remember more of what James had to say than I can. :D
The Union Chapel gig last night was fantastic. James was on fine form and the atmosphere was electric. K and I were at the back of the room, seated next to the sound man. People who could transfer from their wheelchairs or had walking difficulties were allowed to sit in the front couple of rows, but those (like K) who are unable to transfer had to sit at the back. I have to say, though, that the view from there was wonderful. I don't think there was a bad view to be had in the room. And James looked and sounded great! :D I met quite a few people from LJ last night, but I think I was still a bithung over dazed by it all, so I don't know how much sense they got out of me. LOL!
I'm sure I'll have more to say when I've had a chance to process it all, but one thing I can say right now is that Spring Fever was definitely an event to remember. And who would have thought that instead of running away from James, I'd actually end up having dinner with him? *is stunned*
I still haven't quite come back down to earth yet. :D

Date: 2007-05-08 02:58 pm (UTC)Yeah, last night I downloaded the greeting he did to the CDS board while manipulating sock-puppet Spike on his hand. There I was, thinking that maybe I'd begun developing an immunity to his magic, when he suddenly appeared: relaxed (half sloshed, is I believe, how he put it), playful, charming and real. Instant squee mode, right there in my desk chair (thankfully, my desk at home). Adorable.
He does seems to be more relaxed in interviews and with fans lately; e.g. in that Canadian radio interview about Shaddow Puppets he seemed noticeably less hyper. More grounded and at ease. It's good.
Looking forward to any details you can recall and care to share, Cal.

Amazing dinner with James
Date: 2007-05-08 02:34 pm (UTC)The dinner was great wasn't it? I'm still not sure whether I dreamt it or not.
It really was great to get to know you and K better, and share a bottle of wine or 2 *wink*. It'll be a memory I'll never forget.
Give K my love and tell her the photo at the dinner is gorgeous, and could you possibly e-mail me a copy of the pics that we had took together? It was just like me to forget my camera *rolls eyes*.
Anyway I hope you had a safe journey home, and we get to meet again real soon,
BIG HUGS Sue xxxxxx

Date: 2007-05-08 02:46 pm (UTC)The dinner was fantastic and an experience I'll never forget! I keep remembering more and more as the days go by, but I doubt I'll ever remember everything that was said. I wish there was a transcript available somewhere! I still can't quite believe I had the guts to ask James if it was okay for me to take that photo...and then to ask him for a hug. It must have been the wine talking! LOL
K thinks the world of you, you know. She really took to you. :) I'll definitely pass on your love. And expect to receive the photos later today. :)
Hope we get to meet up again soon! *many hugs*
Re: Amazing dinner with James
Date: 2007-05-08 03:41 pm (UTC)Wil said she's gonna change my heading to the Bragging house because I only seem to go on there when I've had a James experience *wink*.
I'm glad you and K had a great time at the dinner and you must have a couple of glasses of wine more often if it gets you James hugs and lovely pics. I also can't remember everything he said, but keep being reminded of things by his actions or somthing he said later at Collectormania.
Hopefully I'm gonna put a report up on BS and my Lj soon, not just of the dinner but the whole week because it was just amazing. I thanked James in the autograph line for giving us another great week and told him to come back soon.
So K took a liking to me *grin* you might want to warn her I may be a little mad LOL. No really I'm over whelmed she's a lovely girl and you should be very proud. I hope everything goes well for her later this month.
Well I better go because I'm supposed to be cooking dinner ( back to reality heh!).
Speak to you again soon.
Luv Sue xxxxx
