Central Birmingham evacuated

caliente_ukFuck. Central Birmingham has been evacuated because of a bomb threat. My sister and her husband are there tonight. She called us to let us know that they had been evacuated from Broad Street and were now in a nearby pub. The phone connection has now gone dead. Fuck.
What's wrong with these people? I'm so angry right now.
Update: My sister and her husband are out of Central Birmingham. They're still trying to make their way home, but they're fine. The police have carried out a series of controlled explosions, four of them on a bus.
Update 2: Central Birmingham has now been reopened. Even though nothing appears to have been found in the end, I have nothing but praise for the Birmingham police. They were acting on intelligence that there had been "a real and significant threat to lives" in Central Birmingham last night. In the aftermath of the London bombings, I think they did exactly the right thing.
