Second stop - Rich Mix

K and I arrived at the Rich Mix a little after 3pm. We went straight into the ground floor Cafe and joined the lovely ladies from the Bloody Spikeless forum, which included [livejournal.com profile] stretfordditto, [livejournal.com profile] deedee7daydiary and [livejournal.com profile] spikesnn. It was so nice to see some friendly faces, as meeting new people is something that doesn't come easy to me. Before long we were joined by [livejournal.com profile] spikereader and the wonderful [livejournal.com profile] sueworld2003, who is exactly as you'd expect her to be from her LJ. :)

Once registration was over everyone started to move upstairs to the Screening Room where the event was to be held, where I had a nice conversation with the lovely [livejournal.com profile] jamalov29 who was sitting directly in front of me. It was so good to see you again, Caroline! *hugs*

After a delayed start (during which we were shown clips from Teechers) JM finally appeared. I have to say that he's looking better than ever, and I found it difficult to tear my eyes away from him during the reading of the play. Even though I found some parts of the play a little dull (I have to be honest), I was fascinated by the whole thing. He has such an expressive face and I love watching him when he's performing on stage. His voice is smooth like velvet and literally makes me melt when I listen to him. *melts* K hadn't been looking forward to the reading, but even she enjoyed it...although I think it went on a little too long for her. :)

Next came the draw for the dinner, which I have to admit I wasn't paying a lot of attention to. I've never won anything in my life, so I certainly wasn't expecting to be lucky this time. So when Steve Himber called out "H4" it didn't register at first that it was me. When it finally dawned on me that yes, it was my seat number he was calling out, I literally froze on the spot. I couldn't believe it. Eventually Steve said "Don't we have an H4?", which finally brought me out of my stupor. I raised my hand and said "It's me". I must have looked and sounded like such an idiot, but I can honestly say that I was stunned by the whole thing. Nothing like that ever happens to me! Ever. It's been a week since it happened and I still can't quite believe it! My next thought was "Okay, I've won but I can't go. What about K?" There was no way I could go and leave her behind. It just wasn't possible. So imagine my surprise when a few minutes later Lisa (from JMLive) came up to me and said "We'll take you both". There are no words to describe how I felt at that moment - shocked, happy, scared, stunned - everything rolled into one. That feeling remained with me for the rest of the evening. It wasn't until later that I found out that [livejournal.com profile] sueworld2003 had won a place as well, which I was very happy about. Not only because Sue is such a great person (which she is), but also because I was relieved to know that there was going to be at least one person at the dinner capable of holding a conversation with our little manpire. :D

After a short break came the musical part of the evening. It was good, but (imo) I think it was the weakest of JM's performances last week. There seemed to be a few problems with the sound and James didn't seem to be particularly happy with it himself. It was also the shortest set of the week, likely due to the late start. But it was still very enjoyable and, if I'm honest, I think I was still too stunned to enjoy it properly ("Damn...I'm going to be having dinner with him in a couple of hours". How scared was I? LOL!). K, on the other hand, loved every second of it! She really does love James' music, and this was the first time she'd heard him sing since "Words and Music".

After the concert was over, it was time for the drinks reception. This was the first time I'd been to anything like this, so I was incredibly nervous. Luckily ChrisUK came to the rescue and took me over to where all the lovely ladies from MOZ were standing. After a while [livejournal.com profile] spikereader (my partner in crime for most of the week ;)) joined us, and I also got to have another lovely conversation with [livejournal.com profile] jamalov29, who is such a beautiful person, both inside and out. James was slowly circulating around the room, trying to give everyone at least a few seconds of his time. When he came close to us [livejournal.com profile] spikereader (while trying to back away from him) got poked, kissed and hugged by him. The full James treatment. LOL! The look on her face was a picture! :D

I didn't find out until afterwards, but it seems that some people missed out on the chance to talk to James, which makes me feel guilty that K and I still got to have our moment with him. I think the problem was that instead of having their moment with James and allowing him to move on, some people were following him around the room, which made it difficult for him to know who he'd spoken to and who he hadn't. I really feel for those people who missed out. I can only imagine how disappointed they must be feeling. :(

When it came to our turn, James gave K the most amazing smile, spoke a few words of greeting to her, kissed her on the cheek and hugged her. I wish I could have got a picture of the moment, because K's whole face lit up as he was talking to her, and she had a massive smile on her face the whole time. I told him how much K loved his music and he told us that it was so good to hear that, as he'd played music when he was younger, and had had to weigh up what he wanted to do, the music or the acting. He chose acting, but his love of music had never died. I told him that he should continue to do both, which he seemed pleased to hear. You can tell, just by listening to him talk, that he really loves music and gets such a buzz out of playing live for us. He said something else to K, but I couldn't hear what it was. The happiness on her face as he talked to her is something I will never forget. The conversation couldn't have lasted long, but it felt a lot longer than it was. I got a lovely kiss on the cheek and a hug...and then he was gone, moving on to the next person. :)

Then it was time to leave for the dinner with James. So, with my heart pounding in my chest, off we went with [livejournal.com profile] sueworld2003 to meet the other lucky winners. And believe me, I felt so lucky to be able to be a part of what was to come. :)

Next up (but not until the morning): Dinner with James

*blinks* He kissed folks on the cheek? Really? *twitters & grins*

I'm sorry to be one of your first commenters because you likely don't know me from Alice (please tell me you don't know an Alice?!) but I've been enjoying your posts over the last few days. I'm new to understand the little 'thumbtack/track' option, but I've been getting updates each time you post & I'm starting to feel a little creepy, reading & not fessing up, so, erm, if you wouldn't mind if I friended you...? We have some of my favourite friends in common, if that helps any. *laughing* Either way, I'll stop lurking &'ll comment more. *curtsies & winks*

That just rocks my socks... *beaming* I wouldn't expect that it'd be common, stars kissing on their fans. It's a mix of excellent attenders & a fabulous host, wouldn't you say? *winks*

Oh my, well when you put it that way... *dons dark glasses & floppy hat* ;)

Done, & thank you! :)

I don't think it's something that James always does, but I've been lucky enough to have been to events where he has given hugs and kisses (the Coventry album launch being another). :D

Good to have you here! :)

One week has passed already but the memories are still wonderfully fresh on our minds, aren't they?
Such a lovely account of this delightful afternoon , Cal. And you made me blush profusely. ::big thank you and hugs you tight for your very kind words::
needless to say that I was extremely happy to talk to you -longer than the first time , and to meet K. again , especially when she showed so much joy being here.
James gave K the most amazing smile, spoke a few words of greeting to her, kissed her on the cheek and hugged her. I wish I could have got a picture of the moment, because K's whole face lit up as he was talking to her, and she had a massive smile on her face the whole time. I was watching you both during the exchange.:)

Seeing her so happy touched me in a way I can't express, Cal.

James deserves our love.

I also found out that some people -maybe because of their shyness- didn't get their little time with James and yes , it's a shame and they must have been so very disappointed. I imagine this and feel sorry for them.

Carolyn got the whole treatment ..Lol . I've seen it ! And I would say she looked completely enthralled. :-)
Not surprisingly.

I loved the play , wasn't dull for me at all I guess because of the foreign language. As much as it is sometimes not so easy it' s also very enjoyable to hear English, of course even more when it' s James' deep, velvet voice.*sigh*
The concert was too short indeed however pretty good , despite the microphone issues. ;-)
I'm sure you were too much in a joyful daze to savour it properly. :grins:

::hugs you lot and give a hug to K. from me::

The whole experience has had such a positive effect on K, Caroline. It was exactly what she needed! :) James is such a beautiful person. He deserves our love indeed. :)

I look back on the whole of Spring Fever with such happiness. What a time it was!

Unfortunately our MOZ group was one of the ones that missed out on the conversation with him,I had to grab Steves arm and tell him that James hadn't been to us as he was pushing James right past our group.
We all got a quick hug each and that was it, we had a similar thing happen on the QM too - that's the disadvantage of being at the end of the line.

I was really glad to hear that you and K had won the dinner with him - I thought it was a lovely thing for K to have happen just before she has to have her surgery....something to cheer her up a bit

Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear that, Chris. *hugs* I think the drinks reception could have been organised a bit better. Maybe by putting people into groups and allowing James to spend a few minutes with each group? It was my first time at an event like this, so I don't know how these things are usually done. I just think that everyone there should have had their moment with James. It worked better at the album launch in Coventry where everyone got their personal moment with James.

Thank you. The whole experience has had such a positive effect on her. James has worked his magic yet again! :)

I think it could have been arranged a bit better too - so many people were following him around that I think everything got confused and they didn't know who he'd been to or missed out and the people at the front of the room got way longer to chat to him than all the ones at the far end - the tables at the QM event were a bit better from that point of view, although they still seemed to run out of time a bit by the time he got round to our table, but at least we actually got to talk to him.
