New Layout!

I've changed my layout again. Thanks goes to acookie for my new header and icon. She made them as part of her Summer of Spike entry. Such a talented girl! :D

It's taken me ages to get everything the way I want it, but I'm quite pleased with it so far. I'll probably tweak it a little before I'm completely satisfied with it. For some reason I can't change the colour of the background. If anyone can help me out with this, please let me know! I'd like the background colour to match everything else, if I can. :)

It's nearly 6am. I really should be in bed.

ETA: Finally did it. Yay! Thanks goes to spikereader and denny_dc for their helpful advice. :D

Thanks to some advice from denny_dc, I think I can help but it won't be very technical (because I'm a complete dunce at anything like this, but I just figured it out in a way I understand), and it uses Photoshop. If you want some instructions let me know. And if someone more familiar with doing these sorts of things give you advice, I'd be happy to see it too. *g*

Ok, here goes (don't know how much sense this will make but I'll try).

Open the header image in Photoshop, make sure the Navigator Window is open and click on the info tab.

Move your cursor over the banner pic and the numbers in the info box change for Red, Blue, Green. When you get a colour you like, make a note of the numbers.

Go to Customise Journal, Edit Customisation, Colours, Background Colour. Override default, and 'Choose'. This will bring up a pallette of colours and you can type in the Red, Blue Green code numbers that you liked from your header.

Save all this and (hopefully) you will have a background colour that blends with the rest of your LJ. Let me know if it a) makes sense, and b) works.

If it does work I'll have to try again with the banner I abandonded because I couldn't get a background colour I liked.

Oh dear - perhaps it's because you've got a different layout style to me. I notice denny_dc gave you a different way of doing it - maybe that one will work.

It's very beautiful , Cal! Personally I'm not bothered by the light- blue coloring in the background , it gives a sort of lightning that works in a lovely way.

I like it! Very nice and I love the colors. To change the background color go to edit customization and go to the 'colors' index and change 'background'. you'll be able to spot the right category because you have two primary colors (the brown and orange) and one other color. On the 'background' page, all of these 'colors' are shown as numbered codes in boxes with a 'color' next to them. Find the one that looks like your background color and cut and past the code from one of the other boxes (the brown or orange) into that box. Then hit save/finish at the bottom of the page and that should do it.(sorry, i'm not the best on writing these explanations so I hope it's not too confusing...)

Finally managed to do it! It was something simple in the end. I'd been tinkering with the Advanced Customizations and forgot to change a colour number. Doh! Thanks for your help, Denny. :)

I love that scene from Intervention - it was the very first thing I ever watched. I was channel hopping and saw that scene. The Daughter had been telling me for ages that I ought to watch BtVS but I'd resisted. That kiss hooked me right in.
