30 Day Buffy Meme - all in one day!

So, here's that 30 Days of Buffy meme that went around a while ago, all in one day!



Day 1: Favorite Season

This one is actually more difficult to answer than I expected it to be. I find it very hard to pick between S5, S6 or S7, as I think they work better when viewed as a whole. But if I had to choose, I think I'd go with S6, with S5 and S7 not far behind.

Day 2: Favorite Episode

I have two: Fool for Love and Once More, With Feeling.

Day 3: Favorite Song Used In An Episode

This one is easy: Goodbye to You from Tabula Rasa.

Day 4: Favorite Female Character

It's Buffy Anne Summers, of course.

Day 5: Least Favorite Female Character

Glory. Even though S5 is one of my favourite seasons, Glory really did begin to grate after a while.

Day 6: Favorite Male Character

Do I even need to answer this one? *g* It's Spike, of course.

Day 7: Least Favorite Male Character

I think this will be an unpopular answer, but it's Mayor Wilkins from S3. He irritated me something awful.

Day 8: Favorite Friendship

I'm a big fan of the friendship between the Scoobies. And I also wish the blossoming friendship between Dawn and Spike had been allowed to develop instead of being forgotten about after the first couple of episodes in S6.

Day 9: Favorite Romance

I don't think I even need to answer this one. :)

Day 10: Least Favorite Season

This is an easy one - S3. It had some wonderful episodes, but the overall arc just didn't work for me. And as I said before, Mayor Wilkins irritated me so much that by the end of the season I was glad to see him transform into a giant snake! The best things to come out of S3 for me were Lovers Walk and Faith. It's the season I rewatch the least out of the entire show - I've even rewatched S1 more than I've rewatched S3!

Day 11: Least Favorite Romance

I have a feeling that most people will expect me to opt for Buffy/Angel here, but I'm not going to. I actually liked Buffy and Angel together in the first two seasons and the beginning of the third. I also quite liked Buffy/Riley as a couple in S4 and the beginning of S5, but that all began to change after my Spike/Buffy love kicked in. I never hated Buffy/Riley, though, until after Riley's catastrophic and OOC (imo) re-appearance in As You Were in S6, which killed any residual love I had for Buffy/Riley stone dead. So least favourite romance would reluctantly have to be Buffy/Riley.

Day 12: Least Favorite Episode

Despite having a couple of memorable moments, it would have to be As You Were.

Day 13: Favorite Potential Slayer

I don't know - possibly Vi?

Day 14: Favorite Female Villain

I'm going to opt for Maggie Walsh, although I do have to admit that this choice is very much influenced by the many fanfics I've read where Maggie Walsh is portrayed as the perfect villain.

Day 15: Favorite Male Villain

Warren Mears. I think he's a great character, all thwarted rage and misogyny, but such a normal-seeming nerd boy on the surface. He is, to me, the most realistic villain the show ever came up with, and all the more terrifying because of that. (I left Molly's answer in for this one, as she'd already said exactly what I wanted to say)

Day 16: Episode You Like That Everyone Else Hates

Same Time, Same Place and Where The Wild Things Are are two episodes I like that not many other people seem to. The B/R sex scenes got a bit too repetitive, but other than that I thought WTWTA was a great episode.

Day 17: Character You Relate To The Most

I relate to Buffy during S6 when she was suffering from depression, and I also relate to Spike as the person who's always on the outside looking in, but never fully accepted by anyone - which is pretty much how I've felt for the majority of my life.

Day 18: Character Who Didn’t Get Enough Screen Time

I would have liked to have seen more of Clem, Spike's one and only friend from the demon world (that we saw anyway).

Day 19: Character You Like That Everyone Else Hates

I think I'm going to have to choose Riley for this one (despite what I said above). I liked Riley until he left the show in S5 (although I was well over the B/R romance by the time he left, as I'd fallen hard for Spuffy by then). It was only after he returned in S6 that I found myself disliking him, but he was hardly recognisable as the character I knew by that point anyway. He was some sort of Riley clone, brought in to teach Buffy the error of her ways. Ugh. Sorry, my loathing of As You Were crept in a little there. :)

Day 20: Best Spike-centric Episode

There was only ever going to be one answer to this question for me, and that would be Fool for Love.

Day 21: Best Willow-centric Episode

Well, the obvious choice would be Doppelgangland (which I do love), but I'm also a fan of Same Time, Same Place too. I never quite understood why it seemed to be disliked so much in fandom. I thought it was very cleverly written and a good, solid episode.

Day 22: Best Xander-centric Episode

Hmm, I'm not a huge fan of Xander-centric episodes that other people seem to like such as The Pack or The Zeppo, so I think I'm going to have to go for The Replacement here.

Day 23: Two Characters You Wanted To Get Together That Never Did

As this is a BtVS meme and not an AtS one, I don't suppose I can choose Cordelia and Angel, can I? Other than that, I got nothing.

Day 24: Favorite Example of 90s Special Effects

The effects in I Robot, You Jane make me cringe every time I see it, which admittedly isn't often as it's one of the worst episodes in the entire series imo.

Day 25: Favorite Buffyverse Saying

There are so many! How could I possibly pick just one?

Day 26: Favorite Scooby Moment

Again, there are many Scooby moments I enjoy, but I'm not sure I can pin down just one. Maybe the 'We're Doomed' moment? I may have to come back to this one when I've had time to think about it some more.

Day 27: Cutest Moment

Drunk Buffy in Life Serial would have to take some beating.

Day 28: Character You Love To Hate

Who else could it be but Warren Mears.

Day 29: Episode You Hate That Everyone Else Loves

The Zeppo seems to be almost universally loved, but I can't stand it. Not sure why, but it just doesn't work for me.

Day 30: What You Think Made Buffy So Great

The fact that we're still talking about it so many years after it left the air pretty much speaks for itself I think.

I've decided I'm going to do this meme. I stayed well away from it when it was originally going the rounds, because it seemed for some people to turn into an excuse to really get their scorn on about certain characters/episodes. In this much briefer format there isn't really room to do that.

I've never lked The Zeppo much either, I found it really boring to sit through. But then I feel that way about most Xander episodes to be honest.

Yes, that's what I found so enjoyable about it. It reminded me of all the reasons why I fell in love with the Buffyverse in the first place.
