Thirty years ago today one of the greatest musicians the world has ever known was gunned down and murdered in cold blood. I was eleven years old at the time, but I can remember that day as clearly as if it were yesterday.

RIP John Lennon. Neither you or your music will ever be forgotten.

I was 17, and hanging out in downtown Manhattan that night. When rumors hit, it was like an exodus uptown to the Dakota. I stood outside, in the early morning air and just . . . sang, along with the others that gathered there.

It was awful and yet hauntingly beautiful at the same time.

I quoted a line from a Lennon song in my facebook status, but nobody knew what it was or those who did didn't care enough to comment. That made me sad. Thank you for remembering.
