List given to me by [livejournal.com profile] hobbituk.

If you want to play then leave a comment and I'll give you 10 actors and 10 actresses (or 5 and 5, if you prefer) and in your own journal, post the movies you enjoy most with those actors. No pressure, do it if you want to and don't if you don't.

My answers under the cut.

Actors

1. Burt Reynolds

I'm not a big Burt Reynolds fan, although I have seen quite a few of his films. I'm going to go for the 1997 movie Boogie Nights, which earned him several awards/nominations as Best Supporting Actor.

2. Orson Welles

I'm going to have to go with Citizen Kane for this one, although I do also like The Stranger.

3. Jack Black

Another actor I'm not a big fan of, but have seen quite a few of his films. High Fidelity is probably my favourite, but I have to admit to also having a soft spot for The Holiday.

4. Brad Pitt

I used to be more of a Brad Pitt fan a few years ago, but can take him or leave him now. He was in Seven, one of the most disturbing films I've ever seen (and never want to see again), so I can't say that's a favourite. I think I'm going to choose Babel, which was beautifully acted by everyone involved. A fascinating and complex movie, with many twists and turns that really did blow me away when I first saw it.

5. Jude Law

A very pretty, very english actor, who is also very talented. I've enjoyed quite a few of his movies, but my favourite would have to be Road to Perdition. But I also loved his portrayal of Dr. Watson in Sherlock Holmes

6. Adam Sandler

Yet another actor I'm not a huge fan of, but my favourite movie of his is Reign on Me, which is based on a true story about two old friends who fell out of touch and are re-united in post-9/11 New York City. Incredibly moving.

7. Tim Robbins

This one is easy, as I have two favourite Tim Robbins movies. They are The Shawshank Redemption and Bull Durham. Two very different movies, but both (imo) equally as good. Love them!

8. Andy Garcia

I love Andy Garcia. My favourite movie of his would have to be The Untouchables, but I also adore Dead Again (with Emma Thompson and Kenneth Branagh) in which he had a supporting role.

9. Heath Ledger

I suppose most people would go for either Brokeback Mountain or The Dark Knight (both of which I did enjoy, and were obviously the better movies), but I'm going to choose A Knight's Tale, which is just such a gloriously fun and uplifting movie. And I like to be uplifted. :)

10. Michael Caine

This is so difficult! Michael Caine has been in so many wonderful movies! Hmm...well, there's Alfie, of course. The Jude Law remake could never live up to the original in my eyes, and Michael Caine really was great in the role. Then there's The Italian Job with the classic line "You were only supposed to blow the bloody doors off!" Then we have Educating Rita, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Little Voice and The Cider House Rules, to name but a few.

No, I'm sorry, I can't choose. I love all the movies I mentioned above, plus so many more. Of course, he's been in quite a few stinkers too, but I think the good movies far outweigh the bad.

Actresses

1. Joanne Woodward

I'm not familiar with many of her movies, but my favourites are A Kiss Before Dying and The Three Faces of Eve.

2. Barbra Streisand

I'm a huge Barbra Streisand fan, and love most of her movies. But if I had to choose, my favourites would be Funny Girl, The Way We Were and A Star is Born. I've lost count of the amount of times I've seen these films, especially Funny Girl.

3. Dolly Parton

I'm not a Dolly Parton fan, and the only film I can remember ever seeing of hers is Nine to Five. And what a ridiculous movie it was too. Oh! I've just remembered she was in Steel Magnolias, which I enjoyed a lot more than Nine to Five, so I'll go with that.

4. Catherine Zeta Jones

Chicago, without a doubt.

5. Daryl Hannah

I'm afraid I don't have one. :/

6. Drew Barrymore

I loved her when she was a little girl in ET, but of her later movies I enjoy her RomCom roles, which include Never Been Kissed and Music and Lyrics. What can I say? I'm a pure romantic at heart. :)

7. Greer Garson

I adore Goodbye, Mr Chips. No remake could ever live up to the original.

8. Julie Andrews

Well, I'm going to be predictable and go for The Sound of Music, which always evokes such happy childhood memories whenever I see it.

9. Charlize Theron

My favourite film of hers would have to be The Cider House Rules.

10. Lauren Bacall

The Mirror Has Two Faces with Barbra Streisand and Jeff Bridges. I'm sure I must have seen her in a lot of old movies, but none come to mind when I see her name.

I've finally watched the latest episode of True Blood. Thanks to everyone on my flist for keeping your reactions to the episode under a cut, so I didn't get spoiled. I really do appreciate it! I'll post my thoughts on the episode later. :)

Wow, you picked some of my favourite films too!!! It's hard when you don't particularly like an actor/actress though, isn't it?
