It was perfect Saturday evening viewing - light-hearted and fun! I was so pleased they brought Rory back. He was the best thing to come out of S5 for me.
I think I read somewhere that they had a married couple as companions once before, but I don't remember it myself.
They may be thinking of Ian and Barbara, two of the first Doctor's companions back in 1965. However, they weren't married, just engaged, as I recall, if that.
