Catching up on TV...

caliente_ukI watched two very different season premieres yesterday. Spoilery reactions under the cut.
Supernatural S5 Ep1
Brief episode reaction: I loved it! :D
Episode reactions in no particular order:
1. I love these 'music video' style opening sequences! The music and everything is just perfect.
2. The boys are back! Oh boys, how I've missed you.
3. WTF? All the hopping around at the beginning of the episode was very confusing.
4. Castiel is dead. Oh noes! And Dean considers Castiel to be a friend. *melts*
5. Eeww - Castiel's tooth in Chuck's hair. *shudders*
6. Hee! Fangirl alert! And she's a Wincester girl. :D
7. Aww, Dean isn't how she pictured him. So she's a Sam girl - but Sam doesn't like her to touch him. So funny!
8. So glad to see Bobby! Aww, Sam's face when Bobby tells him to lose his number. Poor Sam!
9. Bobby's a demon! No! They can't kill Bobby. :(
10. Oh, thank goodness! Bobby isn't dead, just injured. I seriously thought they were going to kill him off then!
11. So, Dean is Michael's vessel? Not sure what I think about that. All I know is I want Dean to be Dean. I don't want him to go all angelic on us! *loves him*
12. Yay! Castiel is back. And he's really kicking some ass! I have to admit that I literally shouted at my screen when he showed up. I love me someMisha Collins Castiel! :D
13. So are we to assume that it was God who saved the boys and brought Castiel back? I think that's what I'll stick with unless we're told otherwise.
14. Castiel was really dead. Something else for him to bond with Dean over.OMG! I think I'm turning into a slasher. *g*
15. So now we have our Lucifer. A very well set up and creepy introduction to him. And I like the actor they've chosen to play him.
16. Bobby's not going to turn his back on Sam. That was the demon talking.
17. Dean and Sam are going to beat Lucifer together. But he said it all for Bobby's benefit.
18. All is not well with the boys. Dean no longer trusts Sam, and doesn't think anything will ever be the same between them. I'm sort of torn about this - I think something needed to be said about Sam's choices last season...but oh Sammy! It breaks my heart to see our boys so conflicted. :(
19. Oh boys. It's so good to have you back!
20. I could go on and on about this episode. About Meg...and the angels...and Sam...and Dean. But I think I'd better leave it there. :)
I have a feeling this is going to be one hell of a season.

The Vampire Diaries S1 Ep1
Brief episode reaction: It was full of teenage angst, was very cheesy...and I liked it. But then again, I liked Dawson's Creek and Roswell too, and this felt very similar to those. I didn't love it, but I'll definitely be sticking with it for a while.
Episode reactions in no particular order:
1. Ooh, this can't be good. We have a scary killer vampire on the loose!
2. So this must beAngel Edward Stefan. Surely he isn't our killer?
3. No, he's too broody for that.
4. So, Elena and Jeremy have recently lost their parents. *cue angst*
5. I quite like Elena. She reminds me of Liz from Roswell. What, with all the journal writing and all...
6. Elena seems to have a psychic friend. This could be fun!
7. Eeek! I hope they don't keep showing crows! *has phobia*
8. Someone likes using that fog machine...
9. So older guy is Stefan's...nephew?
10. Ooh, Stefan has a brother. And he's a vampire too! A very evil vampire. Hmm...I think we may have found our killer. ;)
11. Evil vampire Damon is very cute...if a bit young for my tastes. Ooh, he's played by Boone from Lost!
12. Ah, so Stefan can only walk in the sunlight because ofthe Gem of Amara the magic ring on his finger...
13. ...which Damon stole, but then returned. And promptly sent Stefan flying, because he's now weak as a kitten.
13. But at least he doesn't sparkle.
14. I'm not sure Damon is going to be redeemable. After all, he's already killed two people and almost killed a third so far. Who in their right mind would fall for an evil, blood sucking vam...oh wait... o_O
15. Stefan seems to be inAngel mode stalking mode. He keeps following Elena round like a lovesick puppy.
16. And now she's invited him into her house.
17. I can see a love triangle forming! Evil Damon, Stalker Stefan and Enchanting Elena. Who will win, YOU decide...oh wait, that's a whole other show! *g*
18. I actually quite like Stefan really (even if he does always walk around with a tortured look on his face) and Damon is an intriguing butlickable unlikeable character so far.
19. In no way, shape or form does this show even slightly resemble BtVS. The only thing they have in common is the fact that they both have vampires in them. But it is shaping up to be a whole lot of fun! :D
I really did like the show, I promise! I just couldn't resist a bit of friendly mocking of the cheese. :D

Date: 2009-09-12 08:50 pm (UTC)The Vampire Diaries just seemed like a lot of fun to me. Not really a show to take seriously, but very cheesy and angst-filled. Perfect for teenagers. I can see why Kierston loved it! :)
The vampires didn't really do much for me. Damon was very cute to look at if you're a teenager. I thought the actor who played Stefan was a bit odd looking, but played the part well.

Yup, not cheesy enough to replace True Blood but still...
Nothing will ever be cheesy enough to replace True Blood! I think I like True Blood as much as I do because it's *adult* cheesy fun.
I'll definitely be sticking with The Vampire Diaries for now, though. I'll need a good dose of cheese to see me through until True Blood S3 starts! :D
