Snagged from just about everyone. With special thanks to
japeweird for the template. :)
1. Wrapping paper or gift bags?
I always use wrapping paper for children, but have to admit to using gift bags for most adults.
2. Real tree or artificial?
We used to have a real tree, but have an artificial one these days.
3. When do you put up the tree?
Beginning of December.
4. When do you take the tree down?
On or before twelfth night.
5. Do you like Eggnog?
I've never tried it. I think it's more of a US tradition?
6. Favourite gift received as a child?
I don't think I can pick just one, but stocking fillers were always the most fun! :)
7. Do you have a nativity scene?
I used to have one a long time ago.
8. Hardest person to buy for?
My Dad (who buys himself everything he wants...and usually just before Christmas!) and my MiL.
9. Easiest person to buy for?
My daughter.
10. Worst Christmas gift you ever received?
Even if I don't like something, the thought is always appreciated...so I don't actually have one. *is sentimental*
11. Mail or email Christmas cards?
Mail is better, but occasionally email is the only way to go.
12. Favourite Christmas Movie?
It's A Wonderful Life, without a doubt!
13. When do you start shopping for Christmas?
End of November.
14. Have you ever recycled a Christmas present?
Not that I can remember
15. Favourite thing to eat at Christmas?
Turkey, with all the trimmings.
16. Clear lights or coloured on the tree?
We always had coloured lights on the tree, but now I prefer clear.
17. Favourite Christmas song?
The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting on an open fire...) Anything by Dean Martin and Nat King Cole.
18. Travel for Christmas or stay at home?
Stay at home for dinner, tea at my Mum and Dad's (with my brothers and sisters and their families), evening with Paul's Mum and Dad (and his brothers and sister and their families...which actually include my sister and her husband, because she's married to Paul's brother *g*)
19. Can you name all of Santa's reindeers?
Most of them, but I always forget one or two. ;)
20. Angel on the tree top or a star?
We used to always alternate between the Angel my son made at nursery school and the Angel my daughter made at nursery school. Now they're older (although I still have the Angels) we have a star.
21. Open the presents Christmas Eve or morning?
Definitely Christmas morning.
22. Most annoying thing about this time of year?
Crowds.
23. What I love most about Christmas?
Pretty much everything. Christmas is my favourite time of the year.
24. What I love least about Christmas?
How expensive it can be if you're not careful.
Wishlist
Step One: Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered ... whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of ten holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want. Make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, so that the holiday joy will spread.
Step Two: Surf around your friendslist (or friends' friends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part: If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use -- or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free -- do it. You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf ... to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not; it's your call. There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just ... wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.
My Christmas Wishlist
1. A happy and healthy 2008
2. A chance to meet up with my online friends next year, whether it be at a James event or otherwise.
3. A specially made pair of shoes or boots for K. Because of her disability we can only get trainers to fit her, so I'd love to make her dream come true by having some shoes or boots specially made for her. Or even info on where to get them made.
4. A Spike Action Figure to play with. *g*
5. Spuffy Christmas fic. Can be angsty and smutty (not essential), but it *must* have a happy ending. *needs some holiday cheer*
6. A personalised Captain John/Captain Jack LJ header for the New Year (and Torchwood...yay! :D) and matching icon.
7. James Marsters in my Christmas stocking. What? A girl can dream, can't she? ;D
8. This book from my Amazon Wishlist. I'm a huge fan of Jack Finney's work, with Time and Again being my favourite book ever.
9. Captain Jack Harkness in my Christmas stocking. Preferably with Captain John Hart. *evil grin*
10. For the BtVS, Spike and JM fandoms to still be going strong by the end of 2008 and beyond.
