Tickets for JM in London

My tickets arrived this morning. It appears that the box office have screwed up. I got the front row seats I ordered for the matinee performance (in the wheelchair seats), but row C, centre for the evening. I have to admit to being a little disappointed. Now, if I'd been told when I booked them that I had third row, centre, I would have been over the moon. Third row in The Mermaid, to my understanding, are excellent seats. But I was told I had front row when I booked, so I can't help but be a little disappointed.

Anyone else had this problem?

I don't suppose I can really complain. I've still got front row for the matinee performance. But when you pay £75+ for a ticket, you expect to get what you ordered.

Personally, I'd prefer the third row tickets. You're still close enough to count nose hairs, but you don't have such an acute viewing angle.

I've sat front row in London theaters many times -- mainly because I go for Half-Price Ticket Booth tickets, and they sell remainders. In short, the front row seats are the last to sell.

Boy do I wish I could get over there for this. I'm so jealous!

Oh, I have. There's nothing they can do about it, of course. The front row seats have already been sold. I'm angry about it, more than anything.

Which row did you order? I'm sure your tickets will be fine. There seems to have been some confusion over which row is the front row by the box office staff. I was told I had front row because, for some reason, the box office staff thought the rows only started from row C. If that's the case, how have some people managed to buy row A? Including myself, for the matinee performance. *sigh*

The more I think about it, the more annoyed I get.

I agree with you. I usually sit a little further back when I go to the theatre. I'm sure I'll have a fantastic view from row C. I'm more annoyed than anything. When you pay so much for a ticket, you expect to get what you ordered. *sigh*

Do we know anyone who has row A for the evening performance? I just had a thought about why the first three rows have not been made available to the buying public - perhaps.

I bought tickets in row J, and I'm sure your right, they'll be fine. It's just that they didn't arrive yet. (I've heard the horror stories about the St James' tickets that the box office got wrong for many people and jumped to conclusions.)

Just out of curiosity, what was the thought? I actually don't believe a word the box office say. They don't seem to have a clue what's going on.

Oh Cal I'm sorry to hear that you were slightly disappointed , but you don't have to be : I was row E or F ( don't remember exactly) , center , last year at the Mermaid , and I had a fantastic sight! So you 'll be perfectly happy with your seating.

Something along the lines of reserved seating for the media. What with the negotiations for The Scottish Play being conducted in the UK, and JM's desire to perform in the West End, I thought they might be using this as a showcase for the theatres over here.

Despite the fact that he's said he can't commit to anything long term, a shorter run could be on the cards, couldn't it?

Cal, I'm sure your tickets will be excellent! Whenever we've sat front row at a concert or play, it's been really too close. It's not just the nose hairs (though that's a scary thing to see, I agree!), it's the spray when they speak, it's the...just toocloseness of it all. Third row center is a dream seat, really.

I know you're gonna enjoy both performances tremendously.

I think you're right, Mary. I was over the moon to get front row seats, but I have to admit to being a little nervous about it, too. I think I'd feel a little vulnerable sitting that close. So maybe it's not such a bad thing after all. :)

Thanks. I'm trying to convince myself that third row, dead centre, will probably be better than front row, anyway. I know that the seats are tiered, so I won't have anyone's head in front of me...as long as they're not 7 feet tall, that is. ;)

I'm going to have a wonderful time. And I still have front row for the matinee performance. :D

Hey - I'm weighing in on this debate!! I found you from marsters_daily

I got my ticket for the afternoon performance and when I rang up and ordered I was told that it was seat 12C, but that it was front row as there weren't any rows A or B. But then on one of the boards I go on, someone has got tickets for row B for the afternoon.

So it sounds like someone doesn't know what they are talking about - or we got the same bod on the phone when we both ordered our tickets.

At the end of the day - I'm just so pleased to be actually going and being in the 3rd row. But I will admit I was a little annoyed when I found out it wasn't the front row. Good job I'm long sighted - lol!!

I saw your post on MTS. I was so disappointed when my ticket arrived! If I'd been told I had Row C when I booked, I'd have been over the moon with it, but when you're told you're in front row, you can't help but be a little disappointed.

But, like you, I'm just so excited to be going! And third row looks like it's going to have a wonderful view any way. I look forward to seeing you there. *hugs*

I know what you mean about the row mix ups. I was told it was row c when I phoned, but then to find out it wasn't front row was a little annoying. But I'm pretty laid back about it all.

Did you go to the gigs in April? I went to Liverpool and Leeds. I met stretfordditto and her sister at The Cavern and Leeds as well. So will hopefully see them as well in London. Hope to see you too.

I'm only going to the Saturday afternoon one as it means I can travel from Leeds and back in one day to keep the cost down. My mate is flying from Germany again to come with me, so we are really looking forward to it all.

Oh - and I'm pleased you like my icons. It gives me a happy when I see people loving them like I do!!

I went to the Coventry gig in April. My very first JM gig, and I got to meet him! I wrote a very "head in the clouds" post about it. *g*

Oh, how cool that you met stretfordditto! I'm hoping to meet up with her myself in October.

I'm going to the afternoon performance with my daughter, and to the evening one on my own. We're staying in London for the weekend, so it should be a lot of fun! :D

I love icons! I can't make them myself (not very good ones anyway *g*), so I really appreciate those of you that do.
