Squee!!

Forgive me if I squee a little. I've just managed to book 2 tickets to see Ewan McGregor in "Guys and Dolls" in the West End. And they're good seats!! Squee!! :D

K is going on a residential trip with her school in July, so my husband and I decided to make the most of the time to ourselves. Our son is seventeen, so he's going to stay with relatives for a few days while we go away. This is the first vacation we've ever had without the children. It's going to seem so strange without them, but I have to admit I'm looking forward to having some time where I can just be me. It's been so long since I had the opportunity to do that.

We've booked 3 nights in a hotel in the heart of the West End. And we're going to see not one, not two, but THREE West End shows! I'm so excited! I absolutely adore musical theatre, so this is going to be a vacation to remember. Plus, hubby and I get to spend some quality alone time together. Hee! ;)

We're going to see "Guys and Dolls" (with Ewan!! :D), "The Producers" and "Les Miserables" (which I adore). And if we have time, we may even book a matinee show, too! *g*

And then two weeks after we come back, we go to Spain for a fortnight with the family! :D

I'm just hoping and praying that nothing goes wrong to prevent us from going. I know... I need to think positive. Think positive, think positive...

Oh I just love "Guys and Dolls"!

I have seen several versions, and I performed in two different productions. One was in high school in Kentucky, and the other was at Havant College in England. The first time I was a Hot Box doll, and the second time I had a [small] speaking role as Agatha, a Mission doll.

And you've got good seats too! You go, girl.

So do you know what role Ewan is going to play? I can see him as Nathan Detroit, or perhaps Nicely-Nicely Johnson. Not so much as Sky Masterson, although that is the male lead role.

Anyway, you'll go, no problem. Don't worry one little bit about that. You'll have a lovely second [first?] honeymoon with that stranger across the breakfast table. *g*

Thanks for worrying about me, Deb. This last week has been rough, but I'm okay. Getting back into the swing of things again. :)

You know, Coventry was the first time I'd been able to be "just me" for a long time. It was such a great release! And to meet people who are interested in the same things as I am was wonderful. I can't wait until I can do it again at Halloween. I'm definitely planning on being there. Coventry was such a good experience (not just meeting James, but the whole evening), that I can't wait to do it again. Have you come back down to earth yet? I'm still flying high every time I think about it. :D

A few days away with Paul will do me the world of good. And Ewan McGregor! He's no JM, but still. ;D

He is playing Sky Masterson. I love "Guys and Dolls" too. In fact, I just love musical theatre, full stop. I'm not too worried about which part he's playing because... well... Ewan McGregor!! :D

I keep telling myself that nothing will go wrong, but I always like to prepare myself for any scenario. It's a way of protecting myself, I guess.

It will be like a second honeymoon. Oly he's going to have to put up with me squeeing over Ewan. Hee!

I love musicals, and completely understand the value of 'me time'. I very rarely feel 'me', mostly mum or wife, so am going to encourage you to enjoy every second - I'm sure you will :)

Thank you, Mary! I still can't believe I managed to get the tickets. They've been selling like hot cakes (the show only opens in June), and I really didn't think I'd get any. So I'm over the moon! :D

I adore Les Mis. It's my favourite out of all the shows I've seen. I've only ever seen it once and it had me crying buckets. For some reason, I enjoy shows like Les Mis that make me really "feel". :)

It's so nice to have something to look forward to. I know that K will be safe and happy on her residential trip. She gets on so well with the support staff that I have no worries there at all. It's going to be great! :D

I'm taking my computer into the shop tomorrow actually because I think I've done something to it or it has a virus or something. I can't access certain sites and I've tried *everything* I know to do to fix it. So, if I get it back tomorrow *fingers crossed because they said they could get it in and out tomorrow* I'll be back on the board. FINALLY!! I've missed it so much! It's been an emotional week, and I'm missing the old days at ACN. It would be great if we could have a posting party every now and then. At least once a week would be nice. Most of us have LJ's now and use them more than the board, but it's not the same as having a proper chat, you know? :)
