I'll post a RL update later, but thought it was about time I showed my face around here. :)

It's a week until I need to make my decision regarding the iPad 2. I know I'm definitely going for the black version, but still can't decide which way to go regarding wi-fi or wi-fi plus 3G. I know how much I can afford to spend, so it's come down to two choices. I already have 3G on my iPhone and Kindle, so I need to decide whether having 3G on the iPad is going to be worth the loss of an extra 16GB of storage space (and also the extra monthly cost of using the 3G). It isn't an easy decision to make - especially when you're as notoriously indecisive as I am! *g*

So a poll to help me decide! :)

Yay! gadgets! I voted for extra storage and no 3G. I suppose it comes down to what you're going to store on your iPad, and how often you're going to need to get on the internet when you're out and about without wi-fi access.

Do you make use of the 3G on your Kindle? (Not that I'm thinking of buying one ..... but you never know when such info might be useful *g*)

*hugs you* just because

I think my question would be where/why do you see yourself using it? 3G vs. 16 more GB seems to me like a choice (in really basic terms) between more web and more TV/movies on your hard drive. Say you're on a long train journey or something; would you rather read your emails and surf the BBC or watch a couple of TV episodes you up-/downloaded?

Personally I'd leave the 3G on the phone which is presumably part of a contract anyway, the Kindle you don't pay extra for the 3G do you? So you can always use transfer anything from your phone to your iPad via home wireless.

Shiny gadget!! :D I wants pictures of the precious pls???!!!

If it's a choice of either or and since you already have 3G access on both iPhone and Kindle, go for the extra space. I never had a space problem in my 16GB, but I couldn't keep a huge library of video on it.

When I got the iPad 2 last week, I was originally going to go for another 16GB 3G, but by the time they got to us in line, those were already gone (and we were #60, the husband having done the waiting for me since lunch while I was at work), so I opted for the 32GB. But I also do a lot of writing on my iPad, so I want the ability to get to my DropBox when wi-fi isn't available. Btw, most people waiting on line seemed to want the white where I was located.

It's all gobbledygook to me, I'm not into technology, don't even like using my old fashioned Star Trek mobile phone with the Buffy ringtune except for emergencies. Hope you get the perfect item for you Cal. :D

Gadgets are fun! :D Thanks for the advice. I'm still torn on which way to go, though! *g*

I've mainly used the 3G on my Kindle when I've been away on holiday. It's only a basic (black and white) web browser, but it's great for accessing sites to read fanfic on - and it's also nice to know I can buy a book any time I want to! And the best thing of all is the fact that the 3G access is free, so I don't have to worry about cost. :)

*hugs back*

The fact I'm still torn makes me think I might be best to go for the 3G version. I have a feeling I'll regret it if I go for the wi-fi only. And if I leave buying any accessories (Smart Cover etc.) until a later date, I may even be able to stretch my budget to the 32GB 3G.

The fact I can purchase data on a 'Pay as You Go' basis makes it more attractive too, as I don't want to be tied in to another data plan when I already have that on my iPhone. This way (other than the initial outlay) it will only cost me anything when I need it to. :)

Btw, most people waiting on line seemed to want the white where I was located.

Really? That actually surprises me. I should imagine it must be because the white version wasn't available on iPad 1. I did contemplate the white version (briefly), but I always think black looks nicer for some reason.

Logically I know that I probably won't use the 3G access very often - but that doesn't stop me from wanting it. Lol! I'm still torn, but I think if I go for wi-fi only I'll probably regret it, so at the moment I'm edging more towards the 3G.

Hopefully, I'll have made my mind up by Friday! ;)

Thanks for the advice. :)

No, you don't pay extra for the 3G on the Kindle. It's only a very basic web browser, but it does come in handy from time to time! :)

It isn't easy making the right decision when it comes to shiny new gadgets! *g*

Pictures will be posted! :D
