I haven't been feeling very well today, so I'm later posting this than I intended to be. Finally saw the episode late last night.

Things I liked:

* How about everything? Because that's pretty much how I feel about this episode.

* Franklin Mott. He is one scary character, but I can't help but be fascinated by him. Over on [livejournal.com profile] shipperx's LJ, [livejournal.com profile] ellowyn commented that "Franklin is basically all of William the Bloody's bad parts on crack", which really does describe him to perfection! James Frain is doing a wonderful job with the role, and seems to be having a heck of a good time playing him.

* And talking of Franklin, I wish I could type my text messages as quickly as that! *g*

* Talbot - I'm liking him more and more with every episode. He really is hilarious!

* King Russell - He's so deliciously evil, but has some great one-liners. "Darling...King." Hee! You really have to watch it to see just how funny that scene is. ;)

* Loved every scene with Eric - as always. I particularly enjoyed the Eric/Talbot scenes.

* Alcide still looks good without his shirt on.

* As does Jason. /shallow moment

* I'm enjoying Alcide and Sookie together. Not sure there's much chemistry between them yet, but I do like their scenes. And Sookie is very much her own woman so far this season - well, she was until the end of this episode at least (more on that later).

* Still loving Jason and Andy. Loved Jason's work scenes! :D

* I'm interested in Jason and Crystal, but mainly because I'm interested in seeing how their story will play out in the show compared to how it played out in the books. I'm hoping some things will be similar.

* Aww, poor Terry. He's so happy, but I can't see it lasting for long.

* Sam's family are slightly more tolerable - especially Tommy. I can see some potential there.

* At last, Tara is showing some of that spirit that made me love her in the first place! I was so pleased to see her try to make a break for it.

* Only to be caught by Cooter. *shudder* Grant Bowler plays him brilliantly, but he really does give me the creeps.

* Lafayette and Jesus - Love everything about them. They have fabulous chemistry! Love how bashful Lafayette is around him. So different to the Lafayette we know! There are so many layers to Lafayette, and I can't get enough of him.

* Jessica and Hoyt. They're both such great characters. I'm enjoying their story this season, but I miss seeing them together.

* I'm fascinated by Bill this season. What is he up to? I love how complex his relationship with Sookie is becoming. And how could he abandon poor Tara like that? Sookie will not be pleased!

* Loved Eric's flashback scene (even with the terrible wigs *g*). And now we know what the connection is between Eric and the werewolves.

* Eric's concern for Pam. Alexander Skarsgard plays this scene to perfection.

* We finally get to see a bit more of what's going on with Sookie. Looking forward to seeing how that storyline plays out.

Things I didn't like:

* I still don't like the blood tears.

* Sam's family. Yes, I know I said above that they're slightly more tolerable now, but I still need an actual reason for them to be there. And I miss the Sam from last season. :(

* Tara's storyline is improving, but I really don't want to see her tied up and abused anymore. Enough is enough.

* Bill and Sookie. I don't like how weak Sookie is when she's around Bill. And I prefer Bill when he's not shouting "Sookeh!" all the time. I'm not against them as a pairing (in fact I liked them together in S1 and part of S2), and I love how complex their relationship is becoming, but I'm not sure I want to see them back together just yet.

As usual, the things I didn't like are few and far between, and are just little quibbles more than anything. I can't help but love this show to pieces, and I gleefully look forward to every episode. :)

I'd agree with most of your assessment, except that Alcide bores me rigid. I can't see any chemistry between him and Sookie, which is frustrating because I know we're supposed to.

I'm enjoying Franklin Mott very much and feeling slightly guilty about it. ;) Poor Tara!

* Eric's concern for Pam. Alexander Skarsgard plays this scene to perfection.

Absolutely. I'm actually getting a wee bit concerned that Eric won't manage to save Pam now. Surely they wouldn't kill her? She's far too good a character to be disposed of like that.

I liked Alcide in the books, which probably has an effect on how I see him on the show. But I agree, there doesn't seem to be much chemistry between them. But on a shallow note, I like seeing him without his shirt on. ;)

Heh. I know what you mean. I'm feeling more and more drawn to Franklin with every episode, even though I know I shouldn't be. I'll be incredibly disappointed if they kill him off. James Frain seems to be relishing every moment, and I find myself wanting to see more and more of him. He's the best new character of the season so far.

Oh, I hope not! Pam is such a great character, and I love the relationship between her and Eric.

He certainly is. He's also a very good actor, which is what makes him so magnetic. I don't really see what else there is to do with him in the long run except kill him, though. He's insane and obsessed with Tara. He's never going to leave her alone.

As someone on [livejournal.com profile] shipperx's LJ said, he's like an extreme Bangel 'shipper's interpretation of Spike, complete with character-bashing.

I agree. I don't see how they could possibly justify keeping him around, and yet I can't help but hope that they do.

I think that was [livejournal.com profile] ellowyn, and I completely agree with her. The scene where Franklin had Tara tied up and was ranting and crying reminded me of an extreme (insane) version of the Spike/Buffy scene in Crush, only without all the history that lead up to that moment. I thought James Frain played that scene brilliantly!

He did. All that crying and accidental spitting.

I now have an appropriate icon.

Nods. Both DO and James Frain are having the time of their lives playing these characters.

Yeah, she's starting to get spunky again so hopefully that business will end soon. Just don't kill Franklin!

They are. And I'm loving it!

I really, really hope they don't!

Nice icon! I can't believe I don't have a Franklin icon yet. I must rectify that soon.

LOL! I never saw any chemistry between Book Sookie and Alcide so IMO the show is just being accurate!

Every time Sam's family is onscreen I simply start tuning out. They bore me so much I find it hard to pay any attention to them at all.

:D I liked book Alcide, but was never really on board with them as a pairing. They were okay, but I wasn't upset that it didn't work out. But I agree, there's a definite lack of chemistry between them on the show!

I much prefer Franklin Mott to Alcide (is that bad of me? *g*), even though Franklin wasn't as big a character in the books as he's becoming on the show.

I'm warming to Tommy a little bit, but I wouldn't be upset if I never saw either of his parents ever again. They're just not working so far.

I like Alcide too, just never saw a lot of chemistry. Of course, by then Eric had taken on Spike like qualities in my eyes so I was very much a Sookie/Eric girl with Sookie/Sam tendencies.

I just wish they'd stop screwing so much with Sam. I desperately want him to have his own story, but this one is so dull I want to cry. Even Tommy.

While I think watching Franklin is a heck of a lot of fun I don't think I could accurately say I love him. He's waaaaaaaaaaaayyyy to insane and creepy for me to have any sympathy for him. I don't think he'll end well (though I can't even remember him from the book. He must have had an extremely small part).

Right there with you on Eric (big, big love for him here), and I'm definitely a Sookie/Eric shipper when it comes to the books. I'm open to them on the show too, but I'm quite happy for the show to take its time where they're concerned, as I'm enjoying Sookie on her own so far this season.

I completely agree. I miss the Sam from S1 and S2. We're not getting to see enough of him this season!

I can't say I love Franklin in the same way as I love Spike, but I love him as a character and find him so much fun (and scary) to watch!

I don't think he'll end well (though I can't even remember him from the book. He must have had an extremely small part).

I don't think he'll end well either, which is a shame, but I don't see how they'll be able to justify keeping him around.

Franklin Mott was the vampire that book Tara had a fling with. He wasn't in it for long (as far as I can remember), although I do think he had an abusive relationship with her.
