I never thought I would ever actually be saying this, but it would have to be The Vampire Diaries.
When The Vampire Diaries first started, I thought it was just going to be one long mockable cheesefest. And after the first couple of episodes, that prediction appeared to be coming true. But then the story improved, the plot progressed at a fast pace, and I found myself falling a little bit in love withDamon Salvatore it.
The Vampire Diaries has strong, interesting and believable characters, and a story arc that keeps you wanting to come back for more. The relationship and history between the Salvatore brothers is fascinating, as is the unfolding story arc of Elena and her heritage.
I like all of the characters, but my favourite character by far is Damon Salvatore (played by the wonderful Ian Somerhalder, who played Boone in Lost), who gets more and more complex and interesting with every episode.
The Vampire Diaries will be airing its season finale on Thursday in the US, and has already been renewed for a second season.
I'm glad I decided to stick with the show after its less than perfect start, as it has turned out to be so much better than I ever would have thought possible. I'm looking forward to Thursday's finale, and will be eagerly anticipating the return of the show in the autumn.
