Re: question #1 - I've taken to sidestepping the question with "I don't read the comics" because the comics are canon if Joss says they are, but given what's in them, it's physically painful for me to check "yes." :-P

Agreed. I haven't actually written any fic that contradicts the comics since they came out, but it's certainly not their canon status that's stopping me. :-P

I see the comics and the TV show as two very different mediums. And as such they have two very different canons. I can't bring myself to see them any other way. :P
