TV query...and Torchwood

Does anyone on my flist have any idea when the next new episode of Heroes will be shown in the US? I've fallen in love with this show and I'm missing my fix. :)

And also...how hot was that kiss between Jack/Jack in the last but one episode of Torchwood? Slash pairings don't usually do anything for me, but even I could see how hot that was! *melts*

I've found this first series of Torchwood a bit hit and miss (which was disappointing, as I'd been looking forward to it), but it really redeemed itself for me in the last few episodes. The fact that the 1940's are my favourite time period probably had something to do with it, and the final episode literally had me on the edge of my seat! I loved the final scene ("the right kind of Doctor"...squee!) and am now eagerly awaiting S3 of Doctor Who and S2 of Torchwood. :)

But that kiss... *fans self*

:D

Heroes returns on January 22nd. And if you think your wait's been bad, consider those of us who've been waiting since the beginning of December... ;)

[identity profile] caliente-uk.livejournal.com 2007-01-03 06:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks for letting me know, Sara. :) I don't know how you've been able to stand it. I finished my last episode just before Christmas and the wait is killing me! It's such a wonderful show. :)

[identity profile] yorick28.livejournal.com 2007-01-03 06:45 pm (UTC)(link)
It really is. And believe me, the wait has been more than a little frustrating. ;)

If you're interested, Erin and I have been doing episode reviews over at the S3. We're only up to episode four, mostly because I have to get my rear in gear and write the review for episode five. ;)

[identity profile] caliente-uk.livejournal.com 2007-01-04 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Ooh, I'm definitely interested! I usually drop by the S3 most days to post my reading rec's, so I'll look them up while I'm there. :)

I only saw 1 and a half ep of the 2 parter, thus was a bit lost.
Planning on watching again, Friday, I think.
Neat ending, I agree.

[identity profile] caliente-uk.livejournal.com 2007-01-04 11:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Apart from the kiss (I'm not quite sure why it appealed to me so much *g*), the ending was the best thing about it for me. Can't wait for S3 of Doctor Who! :)

[identity profile] smudgiboo.livejournal.com 2007-01-03 07:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not sure! I am missing my fix too! I know Sci-Fi was showing reruns.

[identity profile] caliente-uk.livejournal.com 2007-01-04 11:15 pm (UTC)(link)
I've been reliably informed that it's back on Jan 22nd. Yay! :)

[identity profile] showmewrtr.livejournal.com 2007-01-03 08:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Did you get an answer on Heroes? I think it's 1/22.

And Torchwood rocks! I saw part of it at the sf club's new year's party. We're definately looking out for that one!

[identity profile] caliente-uk.livejournal.com 2007-01-04 11:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, it is 1/22. I can't wait! :)

Torchwood is worth watching for Captain Jack alone. *g*

[identity profile] japewierd.livejournal.com 2007-01-03 11:28 pm (UTC)(link)
The wait for Heroes is killing me too, made worse by the fact it will be the debut episode for Christopher Eccleston *g*

And the Jack/Jack kiss was wonderful. Although my son didn't think so, I'd pointed out the nature of the relationship prior to the handhold and he thought it was just mummy seeing the slash again ;)

[identity profile] talesofspike.livejournal.com 2007-01-04 07:18 pm (UTC)(link)
You take the guy responsible for Queer as Folk and give him a TV slot late enough to avoid the little kiddies. Of course there's going to be m/m...

[identity profile] japewierd.livejournal.com 2007-01-04 10:36 pm (UTC)(link)
and a fair bit of it at that - not that I'm complaining in the least.

Though I'd have been equally happy for it to end with the hand hold, given the period.

I was quite shocked by the openness of the display for the time period. I even found myself wondering whether it was really the Germans who shot him down or a bunch of homophobic Brits.

Still Tales just can't be bothered to log out and back in again

[identity profile] japewierd.livejournal.com 2007-01-04 10:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, of course, it was one of those self-fulfilling circular prophecy things. Gay kiss = shot down = gay kiss ;)

[identity profile] talesofsnape.livejournal.com 2007-01-04 11:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Or he did 'the honourable thing'...

[identity profile] caliente-uk.livejournal.com 2007-01-04 10:54 pm (UTC)(link)
I have to admit that as hot as I found the kiss, I was surprised they took it that far considering the time period.

I even found myself wondering whether it was really the Germans who shot him down or a bunch of homophobic Brits.

It would definitely be a possibility if it had really been the '40's instead of a TV show. :)

[identity profile] talesofsnape.livejournal.com 2007-01-04 11:22 pm (UTC)(link)
It did seem reckless for the period. I'm not sure what sort of evidence was needed for a criminal conviction at the time, but it would definitely have brought unwanted attention from the police. In addition, I strongly suspect that it would fall under the heading of "conduct unbecoming" so if he hadn't died he might well have been kicked out of the forces. Our Jack knew that it wouldn't be an issue but the real Jack...

Though I suspect we were all just meant to go !Woah!' and our brains were meant to turn to mush and we weren't meant to think it through, which wouldn't have been an unreasonable assumption on the writers' part.

[identity profile] caliente-uk.livejournal.com 2007-01-04 10:58 pm (UTC)(link)
I can't wait to see CE in Heroes! Definitely worth waiting for. *g*

I could see the attraction between them from the second they laid eyes on each other. My Dad is a big Torchwood fan, but I think the Jack/Jack kiss will have come as a shock to him. I haven't discussed it with him...yet. ;)

[identity profile] stretfordditto.livejournal.com 2007-01-04 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
It was brilliant wasn't it? And don't forget the Jack/Ianto kiss at the end there... :p

[identity profile] caliente-uk.livejournal.com 2007-01-04 10:59 pm (UTC)(link)
The Jack/Ianto kiss was very sweet. :)

[identity profile] talesofspike.livejournal.com 2007-01-04 07:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Fingers crossed for the new series of Dr Who? Check.
New Torchwood? Not so sure... Gwen is such a two-faced cow. Owen is a complete git. Without Cap'n Jack there, I'm not sure Ianto and Tosh will be enough to hold my interest.

Loved the end of the forties ep, but am I the only one to wonder if the other Jack was really shot down by the enemy the next day or whether he was shot down by his own men after a display that would have brought out every bit of homophobia/mob mentality? Maybe I'm just warped.

[identity profile] caliente-uk.livejournal.com 2007-01-04 11:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Torchwood was definitely a bit hit and miss for me, but I really enjoyed the last few episodes. As far as I'm aware, Jack will still be in Torchwood in S2. I doubt it would hold my interest if he wasn't.

I loved the 40's ep, but I can see where you're coming from in regards to the kiss. It definitely wouldn't have been an acceptable thing to do in that time period. So no, I don't think you're warped. :)

[identity profile] talesofsnape.livejournal.com 2007-01-04 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)
I think it depends with me how much we get to see of Jack in the different episodes how much I tended to like them. The ones that were mostly centred around Gwen I tended not to be so keen on, especially once she started having an affair with Owen. Don't get me wrong, I think there's a good chance her relationship with Rhys was doomed the minute she joined Torchwood, not least because she doesn't give the impression that she wants to prioritise it, but the least she could have done was tell him that before she went off and slept with someone else... and the fact it was Owen just shows that for a former policewoman her instincts about people aren't very good. Oops! End rant.

I'll definitely be tuning back in for more of both shows when the next series come along, especially if there's a chance they'll have DT and JB together.

yay! You're all caught up! *high fives you* I knew you would love it! So, who's your favourite Hero after the 'fall finale'?

*hugs*
